Bosnien: Die Museen schließen

Die Situation der Museen (und nicht nur die der Museen) war in Bosnien schon lange extrem: keine Unterstützung, keine Lohnzahlungen, keine Kulturpolitik, keine perspektiven. Nachdem schon die Nationalgalerie und ein historisches Museum geschlossen hatten hat nun auch, wie die Washington Post berichtet, das seit über 150 Jahren bestehende Nationalmuseum geschlossen: "Having not received their salaries for a year, employees gathered at the fountain in the museum’s botanical garden and threw a coin into it, making a wish that the institution will reopen soon. Then they left the building in downtown Sarajevo, the Bosnian capital, and nailed wooden boards that read “closed” across its front door."
Das Ende des Bürgerkriegs und der Friedensschluß hat eine untaugliche Verfassung und untaugliche politische Strukturen hinterlassen, eine staatliche Kulturverwaltung existiert so gut wie nicht. Weitere Institutionen kämpfen um ihren Bestand.
